Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Mitcham is owned by husband and wife team – Sherry and Kerubu Owolabi.
Sherry is a Qualified Primary School Teacher with over eight years’ experience and expertise in the Early Years Foundation Stage. She has also held a number of leadership and management roles within education and has worked in a diverse range of primary schools in inner London, Kent and Croydon. Her role as Early Years Leader has seen her develop teams, improve practice as well as raising learning outcomes for children.
Sherry has always been extremely passionate about promoting high quality education for children in the early stages of their development whilst striving to keep them healthy and safe. She is also keen on promoting a fun and enjoyable learning experience for children. As evidence of her successful track record- Sherry has recently received ‘Outstanding’ for the Early Years in an Ofsted Inspection at her previous school.
Sherry has always desired to own her own day care nursery. Kerubu has shared in the vision by devoting his time and energy towards making this dream a reality. He will be 100% hands on in the business and has a range of skills and experience in which he aims to utilise in making the nursery a success. Sherry and Kerubu are mother and father of two children, one of whom will be attending the nursery.
When we asked the husband and wife team why they wanted to go into childcare Kerubu replied “I have a very confident and happy one-year-old son and four-year-old daughter. Having a wife who is knowledgeable and skilled in the EYFS has had a big impact in the development of both children. All children deserve to have the right care and guidance in the early stages of their development. I am delighted that I have the opportunity to develop a nursery that will be high in quality for all children and parents.”
Sherry replied: “I have always wanted a new challenge from teaching but I still love working with children, so running a children’s nursery was the perfect match. I recognise the importance of the early years on a child’s overall development. Children need and deserve opportunities to have a fun and successful learning experience as it has a major impact on their future life chances. Working in the Early Years and having my own children has really enlightened me. I can relate to parents who have tried to find high quality childcare that would nurture their children in the way they would like. Our aim is to provide high quality care and education which provides the foundation that children need to make the most of their talents and abilities as they grow.”
